A Look Around the Samsung Omnia 7

A superb blend of Super AMOLED screen technology and the impressive new operating system from Windows looks set to make the new Samsung Omnia 7 a hit with consumers everywhere.

If you are familiar with Samsungs previous offering, the Galaxy S, then you will be on familiar territory with the new Omnia 7 with regards to the overall design. The chassis of the handset measures 122.4 x 64.2 x 11mm, which is fairly standard within the realms of the smartphone market. Within this frame the phone sports a superb screen which is the real ace in the pack. At 4inches, the screen is larger than what is offered on most other models, and it boasts an outstanding 480 x 800 pixel resolution to back this size up. Thanks to this, and the 16 million colours on offer, image quality is practically unrivalled. The Super AMOLED technology that is used also aides visibility in sunlight, as well as shaving vital millimetres of the depth of the phone. This is achieved by the screen comprising of just one layer that comprises of both the screen and the touch sensitive panel, rather than them being two separate sheets as is found on more traditional displays. Looking around the actual handset you will find the top edge is where all of the connections are housed, so a 3.5mm headphone socket and a micro USB port are present. The stereo jack is particularly useful, opening up a huge choice of headphones that can be used with the model.

Open Frame Touchscreen

Perhaps the biggest draw of the Samsung Omnia 7 is the new Windows 7 operating system, which makes a pleasing change from the all to familiar Android and Apple efforts. Microsoft have ensured that all handsets running this new OS sport the same layout, so in time the look will become as familiar as the options mentioned previously. The layout of the homescreen is colourful and comprises of clear, large tiles rather than icons. It is immediately obvious that such a layout is perfect for the Omnia 7 thanks to the super screen, which really displays this interface perfectly. These tiles can be constantly updated, so your Friends options shows continually changing photographs of your nearest and dearest. Pretty much any option you require can be pinned to the homescreen, making them easier to find.

Although the screen and OS are the stand out features, there are enough other facilities on this phone to keep users everywhere happy.
